Most trips are 4, 6, or 8 hours depending on the type of fishing and your preference. I do offer offshore trips that tend to be longer.

Absolutely, there is no better way to experience Tampa Bay fishing for a beginner in my opinion. An experienced guide takes the guess work out of where the fish are and will get you back to the dock safely.

You can choose from inshore, nearshore, offshore, and specialty trips such as fly fishing.

Inshore fishing in Florida takes place in protected, shallow waters such as bays, estuaries, flats, and mangrove shorelines. These trips are typically close to land, making them ideal for anglers of all skill levels, including families and beginners. Inshore fishing targets popular species like snook, redfish, speckled trout, and flounder, using lighter tackle and a mix of live bait and artificial lures. The calmer waters allow for a more relaxed experience while still offering exciting action and consistent opportunities to catch fish. Trips usually range from four to six hours and can be tailored to match your goals, whether that is learning new techniques or simply enjoying a day on the water.

An offshore fishing trip in Florida is a deep water adventure that takes you beyond the shoreline and into the Gulf or Atlantic to target larger, hard fighting species. These trips typically run anywhere from eight to ten hours, allowing enough time to reach reefs, wrecks, and natural ledges where fish like snapper, grouper, amberjack, kingfish, and other pelagic species are found. Unlike inshore fishing, offshore trips use heavier tackle, bigger baits, and more powerful techniques to handle deeper water and stronger fish. Anglers can expect a more dynamic experience with changing conditions, longer runs, and the opportunity to catch trophy quality fish. It is ideal for those looking to step up their fishing game and experience the full potential of Florida’s coastal waters.

Yes. Many charters are family friendly and welcome children of all ages. Salty Scales welcomes kids and families.

If you are prone to seasickness, I highly recommend using a motion sickness patch before your trip. These patches are designed to help prevent nausea so you can stay comfortable and actually enjoy your time on the water. It is best to apply one the night before or at least a few hours prior to departure so it has time to take effect. Pairing the patch with proper hydration, a good night of sleep, and avoiding heavy or greasy foods beforehand can make a big difference. Being prepared ensures you can focus on fishing and making the most of your day instead of feeling sick.
